In order to fulfill its mission, the WSESU Office of Curriculum and Assessment works to provide assistance to teachers and administrators throughout the Supervisory Union. Our work falls into five areas:

Curriculum Development and Implementation - Facillitating groups of teachers and administrators in writing curriculum frameworks based on standards found in the VT Framework and adopted by the SU. We are continuing to develop the WSESU Learning Framework, according to our implementation plan.

Professional Development - Organizing and promoting professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators that will support our goals.

Assessment - Implementing the WSESU Comprehensive Assessment Plan. Facilitating teachers in the development of standards-based classroom and local assesments. Assisting in the administration, data gathering and interpretation of results from statewide assessments. Assisting in the implementation of the VT Mathematics and Writing portfolio systems. Providing guidelines for grading and reporting

Public Engagement - Making presentations to school boards and other groups, providing articles for the central office bulletin and maintenance of this web site.

November 20 Public Forum

The Vermont Attorney General and the Vermont Human Rights Commission will hold a public forum in Brattleboro on Monday, November 20 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro.  The focus of the forum is to gain input on a report, to be prepared by December 15, proposing strategies to address racial disparities within Vermont state systems of education, labor and employment, access to housing and healthcare and economic development.

At this meeting, participants will be asked to identify key indicators and performance measures that we could, as a State, track to provide accountability and progress towards the goal of eliminating and/or mitigating existing racial disparities across our state systems of education, healthcare, housing, labor and economic development.   For further information, contact Diana Wahle, Community Equity Collaborative dianawahle@gmail.com.

Office Coordination - Writing grants, overseeing the Consolidated Federal Grants program, including oversight of the Title I program, and coordination with the administrative team.
